PV Module Fire Test Facility

For the first time in India, Ballice has designed and developed a Fire test facility for PV modules with complete in-house engineering using high-quality material and following the assigned international standard(IS/IEC 61730-2 ), thus making it a pure made-in-India product.

The main purpose of the Fire Test of a PV module is to check its susceptibility against different fire conditions such as burning brand and spread of flame with or without wind. PV modules may be exposed to external fire conditions, and therefore should be tested for their fire resistance, these two sets of tests i.e. Spread flame test and the Burning brand test can be conducted on the machine with complete control of parameters like air speed, gas flow, and time.

The machine is complex and very adept at performing its function. The reduced costs make this a very cost-effective and value-for-money machine.

  2. Gas burner / Nozzle burner – Stainless material made of fire resistance material with minimum Heat resistance of 1200 °C
  3. Gas used- Propane(purity up to 99%)
  4. Test rack – 2 m X 3.9 m or better.
  5. Electronic Test angle adjuster.
  6. Automatically adjustable wind speed sensors.
  7. Wind speed monitor and control : 0 – 6 m/s generating uniform speed from a 450V, 3-phase blower.
  8. Wind tunnel spec (W×H)- 2133.6 ± 100 mm X 762 ± 0.2 mm,
  9. Wind tunnel material-  Stainless steel, corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant, equipped with additional wind sensors.
  10. Honeycomb grill and fins for wind stability.
  11. Mass flow controller for controlling gas flow via PLC.
  12. Programmable gas flow control:  2 sets of gas flow rates
  13. Flame length- Class A(1.8m), Class B(2.4m), Class C(4.2m)(for spread flame test)
  14. Gas supply auto switch.
  15. Oven burner for pre-heating brands.
  16. Brand size(mm): 300X300X57 for Class A, 150X150X57 for Class B, 38.1X38.1X19.8 for Class C
  17. Brand type: kiln-dried Douglas fir lumber Brand type kiln-dried Douglas fir lumber free from knots and pitch pockets(burning brand test).
  18. Three K-type (1.63mm) Thermocouples for heat measurement.
  19. Automatic ignition.
  20. Complete PLC control with a 5.6-inch display.
  21. Emergency stop button for shut down power and air supply.
  22. Display system for monitoring gas flow, wind speed, test angle, gas cylinder pressure, data analytics, and alarms.
  23. Safety kit and camera for protection and invigilation.
